“World Fibre & Japan Trends in Demand and Supply 2010”
The World Fibre & Japan Trends in Demand and Supply is the Sixth annual compendium in a series covering the trends in global demand and supply of textile fibre/filament industry. In this Report we have captured the trends seen in 2009 post the global crisis which had severely impacted textile fibre/filament industry including natural fibres, particularly cotton. The analysis assesses the positions of fibres/filaments industry as events unfolded. The Reports 21 pages are richly annotated with authoritative and unbiased objective description, and hard-to-find statistical facts. The report also provides unequivocal views on future potential while throwing light on the prevailing climate in key regional markets and projections up to 2015 of availability and demand for all fibres. The Report is divided into two sections: Fibre-wise View and Region/Country wise View. The first section covers World production of manmade and natural Fibres for the period 1990 to 2009. The second section covers details on Japan. Tabulation includes volumes of capacity, production, export, import and apparent consumption, along with CARGs for the periods 1990-2000, 2000-2008 and the growth rate in 2009. The report will be useful at all levels of decision makers and particularly, handy for textile corporate and business planner. The data on manmade fibre and natural fibre is available in myriad of sources. We have collated the data from best and authentic sources after verifying the same with industry peers. In our endeavour to serve our clients, we shall release the next report in 2011 with updated data for 2010 and also incorporating projections over the period of next five years. A brief note on the foreign trade statistics covered in this report. There has been a mismatch between total volume of import and export of a commodity for a given year. This imbalance arise from the fact that, (1) Not all the countries report their trade data, and (2) The data source tracks select members countries only. For example, India's export of polyester staple fibre to Angola (India's export volume is counted in total exports), and in case Angola has not reported its trade data at all due to various reasons, its import will remained excluded from total import volume.
HIGHLIGHTS:
In supplies, Japan was the fourth largest producer of acrylic fibre and VFY and the top exporter of acrylic fibre in 2009. Similarly, it ranked fifth in VSF exports. In polyester, it ranked ninth in filament and tenth in staple fibre production. In nylons, it was eight and seventh in VSF production.
During the 1990s, production decline at the modest rate of 1.7% per annum and this deepened to 7% per annum between 2000 and 2008. And in 2009 it fell 26%. Japan produced a total of xxx tons of man-made fibres during the year. Production of acrylic staple fibre decreased 15% to xxx tons from 2008. Production of polyester filament fibre fell 24% to xxx tons due to the unstoppable decline in demand for women's clothing as well as production cuts in the automobile industry. Output of nylon filament decreased 34% to xxx tons, impacted by the downward trend of demand for clothing and reduced production of cars.
